Thinglink Overview and Uses

thinglinkHave you ever wanted to make a photo interactive? A great way to make your online classroom more applied and interactive is through Thinglink (Davis, 2016). This tool allows you to create image hotspots, or “tags,” to make an image interactive. Thinglink elicits active learning by giving students multimodal ways of thinking about the concepts you teach. Whether it is through text, image, video, or other media, using Thinglink for assignments can help to enliven any content area.

Benefits:

  • Students will be not have to go outside of your course to view a Thinglink; you can easily embed it into Moodle
  • A Thinglink can include other Thinglinks embedded within it (e.g., a map of Europe contains a Thinglink about the United Kingdom)
  • Thinglink allows you to follow others’ Thinglink creations, thus enabling the curation and sharing of media-rich resources with colleagues, students, etc.
